Palm Oil Investment Dialogue

‘To invest, or not to invest in palm oil’ – that seems to be the question. However, like Shakespeare’s well known and similar phrase, there is a lot to contemplate when asking such a seemingly straightforward question. There is not one obvious answer, and multiple values and stakes may influence which road to take. We therefore do not aim to answer this question with a simple yes or no. To review the circumstances under which social investor Oikocredit finds investments in the palm oil sector responsible, they asked WUR to review its current investment policy and to organise this multistakeholder dialogue.

Oikocredit and Wageningen University & Research (WUR) therefore invite multiple stakeholders to take part in this online dialogue. The viewpoints that come up in this dialogue and the assessment study of different criteria executed by WUR will help Oikocredit update its palm oil investment policy: If, why and under which conditions to invest in palm oil? Meet and interact with other investors, producers, investment managers, civil society and scientists to explore the different viewpoints together.

Get surprised by new knowledge and other perspectives, share your values and explore the future of sustainable investments together. Be ready for an insightful and interactive programme.

We look forward to a diverse and interactive group of interested actors (max 50, English speaking). For sake of diversity, we look at all registrations before sending a confirmation. No prior knowledge is needed to take part in this dialogue, so please do participate if you are interested in the topic and willing to actively participate.
