Exhibition 'Only one foot in reality'
Simon Oosting is associate professor at the Animal Production Systems group and is specialised in Tropical Livestock Systems. For the past few years he has made unique sculptures and paintings.
The wood sculptures are made from black wood, often carved out of oak trees that fell thousands of years ago in the marshlands near Wageningen and that gradually blackened the soil.
Simon Oosting also published two books of poetry in the Frisian language (both part of the exhibition). In 2020, a bilingual (Frisian and Dutch) book of poetry entitled “DC and More Nearby” will be published.
Oosting's sculptures, paintings and poetry combine real and surreal to show the extraordinary in the ordinary.
