Press release:

With his own quintet, guitarist and composer Leon Plecity creates an environment for the exploration of his very personal thoughts on melody, harmony and rhythm. In his ensemble-writing, one can find a natural balance between elaborated forms, wide melodic lines, space for solos as well as intricate written-out parts.

In one moment, the sound can be dense, lush and exhuberant, yet change within a second to a more sparse, lyrical and fragile trimbre. As a result, the music created feels modern in it’s very own sense: On the one hand deeply rooted in the jazz-tradition, but on the other hand very open towards a wide array of contemporary influences, thus finding a unique approach to what jazz can sound like today.

The debut record of the band was recorded at Topaz-Studios cologne and is set to be released in October 2019 on the cologne-based label Jazzhausmusik.
