Exhibition: The Art of Plant Pathology

Published on
April 7, 2016

From 11 April to 7 October 2016 you can visit the exhibition The Art of Plant Pathology at Special Collections of Wageningen UR Library.

The exhibition is part of the 125th  anniversary celebration of the ‘Royal Netherlands Society for Plant Pathology’ (KNPV). The KNVP is one of the most important associations in the field of biology and agriculture in the Netherlands.

The exhibition has been dedicated to the founders of plant pathology in the Netherlands Hugo de
Vries and Jan Ritzema Bos and other scientists. The development of plant pathology is explained through special and rare books and wonderful drawings by artists such as Harmen Meurs, Ben van Londen and Suzon Beynon.

In the 1950s and 1960s Suzon Beynon made almost 900 drawings of plant disorders (caused by fungi, bacteria, or viruses) in greenhouse horticulture. Most of the images can be seen online in Wageningen UR Image Collections.

Visit the exhibition from 11 April to 7 October 2016, Monday through Friday from 9 am to 1 pm. Afternoon and groups visits are by appointment only. Please contact Special Collections in the Forum Library to arrange these visits.
